Allworx Announces the General Availability of Call Assistant
FAIRPORT, N.Y., July 24, 2006 - Allworx, the Small Business VoIP Company, today announced the general availability of Allworx Call Assistant, a PC-based answering solution that brings the power of enterprise-class attendant consoles to small businesses. Designed to work in combination with any Allworx VoIP phone using either the Allworx 6x or 10x system, Call Assistant makes it easy for operators or receptionists to monitor the state of every line in the system - including remote phones - and efficiently dispatch calls by answering, transferring, parking or sending calls to voicemail.
Call Assistant provides small businesses with centralized call management capabilities via a PC-based user interface in a drag & drop fashion. It features all the standard call functions – such as answer, release, hold/resume, transfer, park, and DSS (intercom) functions – with support for both VoIP and traditional Central Office phone lines.
“The Call Assistant offering helps small businesses with high call volumes reap the benefits of enterprise attendant functions without the need to purchase expensive attendant hardware,” said George E. Daddis Jr., CEO of Allworx. “A quick and easy installation process puts all the call functions on a receptionist’s PC or laptop, via a user interface that can be mastered in a matter of minutes.”
The Call Assistant achieves expedited call handling and simple call tracking through its main screen, which displays three work areas.
- My Calls shows all calls handled at the attendant's extension
- Outside Lines highlights the incoming analog and VoIP line status
- Directory displays all users on the system, with color-coded identification for ringing, active, inactive, and do not disturb scenarios.
Sean Robertson, CTO for Computer Telephony Distributing, participated in the Allworx beta program for Call Assistant. After using the product for several weeks, Robertson, commented, “I’ve worked with a number of call control desktop clients over the years, both in and out of the VoIP world, and Call Assistant offers the tightest telephone integration that I have ever seen, in any product. With this solution, small businesses have another great reason to look to Allworx as a supplier of state-of-the-art VoIP communications solutions.”
