- Are upgrade keys for users applicable to the 6x as well as the 24x server? [click here]
- User upgrades are only permitted on the 24x servers.
- Is the “Virtual Private Network (VPN)” feature key required for remote administration? [click here]
- No. Remote Administration VPN capability is included in the server code as a base capability.
- If my Allworx server is on the LAN behind a third party firewall, can I access the admin interface from a
remote location to make programming changes? [click here] -
Yes. There are two options:
- Configure port forwarding within the third party firewall. This exposes the admin interface of the Allworx server to the Internet so access using a browser is permitted. Strengthen your admin password to prevent unauthorized access.
- Configure PPTP pass through on the third party firewall. This is not supported by all firewall vendors so you ultimately may need to use the above option instead.
- Can a user pick up a handset, dial a code or special digit, and originate a call from a remote Allworx site? [click here]
- Yes, but it is manual. No automatic route selection as in higher priced phone systems.
- On the remote Allworx you need to configure a system extension (i.e. 201).
- Program its call route to dial external number "9".
- From your site you'd dial site-to-site (i.e. 6000201) and the call would seize dial tone on the outside line resource; analog and digital services are supported; voip is not supported.
*If the system is configured to allow multi-site extensions and the remote extension (i.e. 201) is unique to the remote site, then it is only necessary to dial 201.
